Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader made the remarks in a video message from a government residence in the Sangsad Bhaban area on Wednesday (May 13th).<\/p>\n
Quader said so far the Awami League has provided about Tk 10 crore in cash assistance, including food aid, to about 12 million families. In addition to food aid, health care items have been distributed in 150 upazilas of 50 districts across the country at the initiative of the Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee. This distribution activity is still going on.<\/p>\n
“The relief sub-committee has distributed four rounds of food to about 50,000 families and assisted more than 200 social, professional and religious organizations. In the meantime, more than five lakh antiseptic soaps, more than ten thousand sanitizers, more than two thousand PPEs and more than one hundred thermal thermometers have been distributed.<\/p>\n
The Minister for Road Transport and Bridges said that apart from party activities, government relief assistance is continuing. The government has already reached out to four crore people. About 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of rice has been distributed in 64 districts. One crore people have been brought under ration. 5 million people will be given cash assistance before Eid. The Prime Minister may inaugurate the program on Thursday. <\/p>\n
He said that an evil group is spreading propaganda about the distribution of relief. We urge the people and the people not to be misled by this propaganda. I call on the party leaders and the rich to help the helpless old men and women and street children.<\/p>\n
Regarding the easing of the lockdown, he said that the death toll in global epidemics has crossed 90,000 in countries like the United States, 40,000 in the United Kingdom, 25,000 to 30,000 in some countries including France, Spain and Italy. The lockdown has been relaxed to keep the wheels of the economy of all countries moving. Even in neighboring India the lockdown has been relaxed.<\/p>\n
‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has relaxed public holidays in some cases to keep the wheel of livelihood of the people of Bangladesh alive as well. He made the right decision at the right time. I urge those who think this decision is wrong to consider the social and economic reality of Bangladesh and the countries of the world.<\/p>\n
Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the outbreak of mosquito-borne dengue fever could occur at this time of the Karna epidemic. There are already signs. Social awareness has become urgent to get rid of Aedes mosquitoes. We have to take care that water does not accumulate in or around the house.
