{"id":2252,"date":"2025-06-21T16:27:57","date_gmt":"2025-06-21T10:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newstoday24hour.com\/en\/?p=2252"},"modified":"2025-06-21T16:27:57","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T10:27:57","slug":"uiu-students-stage-protest-at-natun-bazar-intersection-over-arbitrary-expulsions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newstoday24hour.com\/en\/uiu-students-stage-protest-at-natun-bazar-intersection-over-arbitrary-expulsions\/","title":{"rendered":"UIU students stage protest at Natun Bazar intersection over \u2018arbitrary\u2019 expulsions."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students of United International University (UIU) blocked the Natun Bazar intersection in Dhaka since this morning, protesting what they alleged were &#8220;arbitrary&#8221; expulsions and &#8220;authoritarian&#8221; actions by the university administration.<\/p>\n<p>As per prior announcement, demonstrators began gathering at the intersection around 8:30am, Rakibul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Bhatara Police Station confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Holding placards and chanting slogans, they occupied the road, causing severe disruption to vehicular movement.<\/p>\n<p>As of 4:00pm, the protest was still ongoing. However, limited vehicular movement to and from Rampura and Badda had resumed through a single lane.<\/p>\n<p>A few police personnel suffered minor injuries while attempting to approach and communicate with the demonstrators, the OC added.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters alleged that several students had been expelled without prior notice or explanation.<\/p>\n<p>The protest will continue until a full investigation is carried out and administrative action is taken against those responsible, they said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will not leave until our demands are met.
