Being able to control the hormone glands remotely is one of the great advances in medical science.\u00a0Let me give you an example.\u00a0Excessive stress increases the secretion of certain hormones in the body.\u00a0This state of mind involves a number of hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol.\u00a0Not only this, with the help of stress you can do great things like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).\u00a0So if the release of these hormones can be controlled, it will make a big contribution in the treatment of these diseases.\u00a0And that’s what a team of researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) did.\u00a0The team was able to control the secretion of the corresponding hormones from the adrenal glands using a type of magnetic nanoparticle.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the study, Paulina Anikiva, a professor at MIT’s Materials Sciences and Engineering and Brain and Cognitive Sciences, told Science Daily, “It will now be possible to better understand the effects of various hormones on mental health.”\u00a0At the same time the treatment of various hormone-related diseases will be much easier than before.\u00a0We were working on how to treat various mental illnesses without interfering with the body’s nervous system.<\/p>\n

Decel Rosenfeld, a member of the ANVICA team and a postdoctoral researcher at MIT, developed a magnetic nanoparticle that is so small that it can be inserted into the adrenal glands to control hormone secretion.\u00a0The way it works is that whenever that tiny special device comes into contact with a weak magnetic field, it will heat up a bit.\u00a0And this heat will send a signal of hormone secretion to the corresponding gland.<\/p>\n

The related research article was published in the journal Science Advanced Research on 18 April.\u00a0Alien Weiss, a professor of psychology at the University of Minnesota, co-authored the book with Rosenfield and Anichiver.<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that a new type of nano-boat was developed in the laboratory of Paulina Anikiva and under her leadership, which can go to specific parts of the body and apply the medicine.<\/p>\n
