Three Family Members Burned in Gas Explosion in Keraniganj

Three members of the same family were burned in a gas explosion caused by accumulated leaked gas in Dhaka’s Keraniganj.

The injured were given primary treatment at a private hospital in Old Dhaka. The matter is under investigation, according to the official.

The injured have been identified as Faruk Hossain (43), his wife Shiuli Begum, and their son Al Shamil Hossain (8).

According to locals, Faruk had gone to bed with his wife and son after dinner. Around 4:00 AM, they suddenly heard a loud explosion. Upon waking up, they saw that a wall of their room had collapsed and they had suffered burn injuries on various parts of their bodies.

Hearing their screams, locals rushed to the scene and rescued them, taking them to Sumona Hospital in Old Dhaka. Locals reported that a 20-foot-wide wall of their room collapsed in the blast.

Faruk sustained burns on the left side of his forehead and the soles of his feet; his wife Shiuli suffered burns on her left hand, and their son Al Shamil sustained burns on his head, face, and various parts of his body.

However, Nazir Hossain, the manager of the Titas Gas Keraniganj zone, stated that he was unaware of the incident but said they are looking into it.
