Khondoker Muiz Uddin Publishes ‘Basic Computer Education’ for Beginner Computer Learners
Book developed from training materials prepared in 2012; free PDF made available for students and general readers
Meherpur Correspondent: Software engineer and ICT educator Khondoker Muiz Uddin has published a book titled “Basic Computer Education” aimed at students, beginners and general readers who are taking their first steps in learning computers.
The book introduces fundamental concepts of computers, hardware and software in simple and accessible language. It is designed particularly for learners who may find technical concepts difficult at the beginning of their computer education.
According to the author, the initial idea for the book dates back to 2012, when he started working as a trainer and prepared various notes and training materials on basic computer education for use in training sessions. Over the years, students and acquaintances have also asked him for recommendations for books or PDF resources on basic computer learning. In response, he decided to develop a new book based on those earlier materials while updating and reorganising the content according to present-day requirements.
Drawing on his experience in software engineering and teaching, the author has attempted to present the topics in a simple, structured and learner-friendly manner. The book has also been updated with relevant information in consideration of the rapid changes taking place in the field of information technology.
The book covers a range of fundamental topics, including computer concepts, characteristics and types of computers, generations and uses of computers, hardware, input and output devices, CPU, motherboard, memory, software, operating systems, application software and utility software. Each chapter includes a summary and exercises. The appendices also contain common abbreviations, a glossary, data storage units and references.
Khondoker Muiz Uddin said, “There are already numerous books and online resources available on basic computer education. Nevertheless, I felt the need to prepare a book in my own way, based on my long-term experience, so that beginners can understand the fundamental concepts more easily and access information that is relevant to the present time.”
He also noted that the information technology sector is changing rapidly. Therefore, while retaining the essential concepts needed by beginners, he has tried to present the information in a way that is simple, practical and appropriate for today’s learners.
“Basic Computer Education” was first published in 2026 and has been assigned ISBN 978-984-36-3022-3. The book has been made available as a free PDF so that students and other interested readers can access it without cost.
