News Desk: The medical college authorities took this decision at an emergency meeting of the academic council on Saturday (June 21).
The decision will come into effect from Sunday (June 22), the college’s principal Professor Dr. Md. Kamrul Alam said in a notice signed by him. Students have been asked to vacate the hostel by 12 noon on Sunday.
The notification said that some effective steps have already been taken in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Directorate of Health Education. However, due to lack of visible progress within the specified time, the students are in a stubborn position.Meanwhile, despite being declared abandoned, the risky 4th floor of Dr. Fazle Rabbi Hostel could not be vacated due to non-cooperation from students. Even the students of the new batch K-82 boycotted their orientation program, which the college authorities termed as a ‘black chapter’. As the academic environment has been disrupted by this stalemate, the council agreed that the college’s academic activities are being closed indefinitely as a necessary step to resolve the situation.
However, participants in the professional MBBS examination and foreign students will be exempt from this decision.
