The ‘Artists’ Association’ cannot afford to help helpless artists
In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, many helpless artists have sided with them, but no one has yet been helped from the funds of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association.
General Secretary Zayed Khan claimed that there was no money in the association’s fund to help the artists.
“The money in the fund is very insufficient. The fund does not have the resources to support the artists. Not just today, never. Because Shilpi Samiti is a non-profit and non-political organization. ”
Asked how much money is in the fund, the rising hero said, “I will not tell the media how much money is in the fund. This is my personal and community issue. ”
On the other hand, Farhad, who is in charge of the treasurer of the committee, could not ‘notice’ exactly how much money was in the fund.
However, Farhad confirmed that not a single penny of that fund was spent on helping the helpless artists in this crisis.
After the general meeting in November last year, there were reports in various media that the association had about 7 million rupees in its fund; However, it was blown up by Zayed Khan.
He said, “I was giving the annual account in that meeting. I made an outline of how much it cost. Then Riaz Bhai gave fabricated information to the media. He called the money of the general meeting account the money of the fund. That came in the media by mistake. ”
He said the fund has not received any major grants in the last two years; The actor has also applied for a grant from the Prime Minister on behalf of the association.
One artist, who did not want to be named, said, “If there is no money in the fund of the artists’ association, then where is the money received from the application fee and monthly subscription for the membership of the artists spent?”
At present the number of full members of the Artists’ Association is about 600; Those who have to deposit 100 rupees in the society as monthly subscription.
In this regard, Zayed Khan said, “Artists’ association is run with the contribution of artists. Many do not give properly again. The artists’ association does not have any big fund. It costs a lot of money to pay the salaries of four staff members of the association and the Eid bonus. ”
