Art is singing the praises of the people
Dhaka: Bengali New Year is knocking on the door. But the assassin entered the house. So instead of welcoming the new year, now all our arrangements are just to save lives.
Not only Bangladesh, but the whole world should not be blocked today to stop the virus. Lockdown is going on in the country. We also have a general holiday here. All the busyness of life has stopped in the unannounced lockdown. At this time of fear and upset, therefore, the celebration of the life of Bengalis on the first Baishakh is not taking place this time. The organizers have decided not to put the festival-loving people out of the house and put them in danger.
The most colorful event of the first Baishakh celebration is the ‘Mars Parade’ of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University. It was already known that it is not happening this time. However, a poster of the ‘Digital’ Mars procession is being made to wish the countrymen a Happy New Year. So that the Faculty of Fine Arts is mentioning the victory of the people against all fears.
Boishakh 1428 written at the very top of the black poster. Below this is written ‘People can be destroyed, but people are not defeated’. The quote is from Ernest Hemingway’s world-famous book, The Old Man and the Sea. In the explanation of which it has been mentioned- ‘People are the best because of this feature. In order to get rid of this current crisis, we have to fight with all our might and in the end people will win.
Beneath it are painted flowers blooming around a bluish circle. Through which the art is giving the message that the world will wake up again like a flower. Below this, the main theme of this year’s Mars procession is ‘Free fear, hold strength in yourself, conquer yourself’. This verse of the poet is the message of this year’s Mars procession.
Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Nisar Hossain told banglanews that every year we make posters. I did it again. But that is with the explanation of the proof. Each time we highlight the theme through various motives. This time this measure has been taken so that it will not happen.
Meanwhile, former and current teachers of the Faculty of Fine Arts have stood by those involved in medical services to deal with the corona virus. They are making personal protective equipment or PPE according to the rules. Which is being given completely free of cost at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
This work is being planned by Moinul Abedin, the youngest son of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin. PPEs are being developed under the guidance of the World Health Organization.
Nisar Hossain said, these PPEs can be used repeatedly. We have made PPEs as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization. For which BSMMU’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. I have taken the advice of Shahana Akhtar Rahman and the head of ICU department Khandaker Manzar Shamim. Above all, I have taken the approval of the Department of Health.
