BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the country’s coronavirus has proved how fragile the country’s governance is. Showed us, the health system is completely broken, the health system does not seem to exist. Ordinary patients do not receive any treatment. This is the reality of the country now. People are at high risk of coronavirus because of the government’s go it alone policy.

Mirza Fakhrul said this at a function in Gulshan on Saturday. The event was organized to give Eid gifts given by BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to the family members of the missing and tortured families at different times. The BNP secretary general handed over Eid gifts to the families of the slain students Nur Alam, Nuruzzaman and Mahbubur Rahman Bappi. Gifts will be delivered to the families of thousands of leaders and activists killed in disappearances, murders and torture across the country, he said.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam said the government had failed to take the joint initiative needed to prevent coronavirus. In a word, they have completely failed to deal with the coronavirus.

Calling on the government, the BNP secretary general said, “Now is not the time for political debate, it is not the time for political revenge.” Let us unite the whole nation without arrogance and try to face the aggression of the whole nation. Take that initiative.

Criticizing the government’s policy, he said, “When the state becomes oppressive, when the state itself goes missing or crossfire, where will the people go and stand?” Today we are being persecuted by such a government for which there is no accountability. They are not an elected government. They are in power only by force of arms, by force of guns and bullets. There is no responsibility towards the people.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Aminul Islam, Ishraq Hossain, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and Yasin Ali, among others, were present on the occasion.
