British American Tobacco Meherpur celebrated World Environment Day 2023 with various events

British American Tobacco Meherpur celebrated the World Environment Day 2023 through various initiatives throughout the day with the theme of ‘Planting trees, building a healthy generation’ – the theme of the Forest Department. The organization undertakes various day-long programs around the day. Meherpur District Police Honorable Superintendent of Police Mr. Md. Rafiul Alam, PPM- service, planted trees in the ‘medicinal garden’ established in the office of Meherpur Superintendent of Police in the morning.

At this time, Mr. Sajjad Ahmed Talukder, Honorable Regional Leaf Manager of British American Tobacco Meherpur Region and other officials were present there. Then Mr. Mohammad Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station of the district planted a Bari-4 mango plant in the medicinal garden at Meherpur Sadar Police Station. He spoke about planting 60 different varieties of mango saplings in the police station premises. Later ‘Banayan’ Nursery was inaugurated. Honorable Deputy Director of Meherpur Agriculture Extension Department Mr. Shankar Kumar Majumdar, District Training Officer Mr. Md. Samshul Alam and Agricultural Marketing Officer of Agriculture Marketing Department Mr. Abdur Razzak were present.

Like every year, this year also 3 lakh fifteen thousand seedlings of different varieties have been prepared for distribution in the nursery. Which will be distributed free of cost to various public and private institutions, educational institutions, organizations, NGOs and farmers. Later, the free sapling distribution program of 2023 was inaugurated at the office stall of British American Tobacco, Meherpur. During this time, the guests distributed fruit, forest and tree saplings among the farmers. There the speakers appreciated the various programs undertaken by British American Tobacco Meherpur Region with emphasis on tree plantation to protect the environment.
