Life imprisonment for two accused in Kamal Hossain murder case in Meherpur

The court sentenced two accused to life imprisonment in Kamal Hossain case of Sholtaka village of Gangni upazila of Meherpur. The learned Judge Ripati Kumar Biswas of the Meherpur Additional Sessions Judge’s Court announced the sentence on Thursday afternoon.
The convicts are Abdul Malek Zordar and his son Alamgir Hossain of Sholtaka village. The learned court acquitted 8 accused in this case.
Farmer Kofil Uddin was killed in 2017 when the accused attacked his house due to a land dispute.
According to court sources, as the charges under Sections 302 and 34 of the Penal Code have been proved beyond doubt, the court ordered them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine of 20,000 taka for another six months.
The case was handled by Additional PP Shahidul Haque for the state and Adv. AKM Shafiqul Alam. The accused were present in the court when the verdict was announced. The police have sent them to Meherpur District Jail on the orders of the court.
According to the details of the case, there was a land dispute between Kofil Uddin of Sholtaka village and Malek Zorda of the same village. Due to this, on the morning of 25 May 2017, the accused entered the house of Kofil Uddin and hacked him to death with a sharp weapon. In this incident, Faruk Hossain, the nephew of the deceased, filed a murder case against 12 people in Gangni police station, making Alamgir Hossain the main accused. The police investigated the case and gave the final report to the court.
