A teacher was killed by a bus in Meherpur’s Gangni

A school teacher named Shariful Islam (46) was killed after being hit by a passenger bus in Meherpur’s Gangni. The accident took place on Saturday afternoon at Kathuli Junction in the city. Shariful is a resident of Qutubpur village of Meherpur Sadar Upazila and a religious teacher of Sholmari Secondary School.
Locals said that while teacher Shariful Islam was crossing the road with a motorcycle from Gangni town, a Kushtia-bound passenger bus leaving from Meherpur hit him and the motorcycle fell under the wheels of the bus and was crushed. Pedestrians rescued the injured Shariful and first took him to Gangni Hospital. When his condition deteriorated there, he died on the way to Kushtia Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, the bus that was involved in the accident was caught by the local crowd, but the bus driver escaped.
Md. Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Gangni police station, said that legal action will be taken later in the case of teacher Shirful Islam’s death.
