Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Monjur Kabir Removed from Office

CAAB Chairman Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan Dismissed After Just 11 Months in Office.

Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan has been removed from his position as chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), less than a year after his appointment on deputation.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued the dismissal order on Thursday, without citing any reason. The directive states that Monjur is being recalled to his previous role in the Armed Forces Division under the Bangladesh Air Force. No replacement has yet been named.

At the time of the announcement, Monjur was in Cox’s Bazar attending a workshop organized for CAAB officials. Efforts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful.

Monjur had been appointed on August 9, 2024, by the interim government that assumed power following the ouster of the Awami League administration in a mass uprising. He had succeeded Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, who served as CAAB chief for only six weeks before being reassigned to Air Force duties.
