Two drug dealers sentenced to life imprisonment in Meherpur.

Mamun Mallik and Rabiul Islam were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 50,000 for possession of Phencidil.

The court sentenced 2 persons named Mamun Mallik and Rabiul Islam to life imprisonment and fined Tk 50,000 on the charge of keeping Phencidil in Meherpur. Another 6 months imprisonment has been given in default. Judge Md Shahidullah of Meherpur District and Sessions Judge’s Court gave this verdict on Sunday around noon. The convicted Mamun Mallil is the son of Moti Mallik of Baman Para village of Sadar Upazila and Rabiul Islam is the son of Ijal of Tengramari village.

According to the details of the case, on September 4, 2018, a team of DB police including ASI Jasim, Mahtab Uddin, Ibrahim Biswas led by DB SI Mustafa Shaukat Zaman seized a mini truck loaded with vegetables from Sahebpur Bazar area of Meherpur Mujibnagar Upazila (Dhaka Metro -D-14-2306 ) searched and recovered 800 bottles of fancy. In that incident, a case was filed at the Sadar Police Station under Section 19(1) Table Serial No. (b)/19(4) of the Narcotics Control Act, 1990. whose case is no-7. Session Case No-266/2019. Later, the investigating officer of the case completed the preliminary investigation and filed the charge sheet in the court. A total of 10 witnesses gave their evidence in the case. The accused Mamun Mallik and Rabiul Islam were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. A fine of Rs. 50,000. Anaday sentenced to another 6 months imprisonment. Public prosecutor Pallab Bhattacharya for the state in the case. And advocates Khandaker Ekramul Haque Hira and Yarul Islam were tacticians for the accused.
