BSTI fines 209 companies in May
209 companies fined Tk 18 million in May for ensuring quality products and accurate weights and measures among the public
The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), a product quality regulator, fined 209 companies Tk 16 million in May to ensure quality products and accurate weights and measures among the public.
This action was taken by conducting operations through mobile courts and surveillance teams across the country. This information has been informed from BSTI.
According to the BSTI, the RAB and the police, led by executive magistrates, conducted 75 mobile courts in May and illegally sealed products without the approval of the BSTI.
On the other hand, 89 companies were fined Tk 19.53 lakh for operating 51 mobile courts and giving less in weight and measure.
